Curriculum Learning
We offer a range of experiences, visits and trips as part of the curriculum. Towards the end of each term we work towards an authentic outcome in our Project Guerrilla lessons and parents/carers are often invited into school to be a part of these. Sometimes these outcomes involve the pupils going into the community e.g. to visit our local Nursing Home.
Inspiration Events
Each year we host a variety of inspiring and engaging events to inspire our pupils to get involved in activities they might not otherwise have the opportunity to try.
Events change each year depending on pupil and parental feedback. Listed below are a few firm favourites that take place each year:
Residential
We run a residential visit for pupils in Year 5 and 6 once every two years. We visit Whitemoor Lakes near Lichfield. On this residential the children have the opportunity to take part in a range of outdoor adventurous activities including a range of water based activities.
Intraschool Events
Each year we run a Sport Week where all children across the school partake in a traditional Sports Morning or Afternoon competing against their peers in their House Teams.
We also organise other events throughout the year where children can complete against their peers. Sometimes these events are sports based and others are non-sports based e.g. our Annual Spelling Bee, and Annual Maths Olympiad.
Interschool Events
As a member of the Mandeville School Sports Partnership we take part in the virtual Bucks MK Commonwealth Games Cup. Throughout this event each year group will get a turn to complete an activity, linked to a sport, to earn points for our school. This event runs from November through until February. We also take part in Trust wide events for example ‘Walk to Lapland’.
Throughout the year there will be other opportunities for us to take part in Festivals held by our School Sports Partnership as well as those organised by our School Games Organiser and those we organise ourselves with other local schools.
